Welcome to the ICT department
Intro
The ICT Technical Services departments’ purpose is to provide a prompt, effective and professional service for all network users. It provides not only network and desktop support but also additional support for all other computer associated equipment.
The network is run by the ICT Manager and a technician
Facilities
The school currently runs a Windows Server 2003 network with approximately 280 workstations running Windows XP and additional Apple Mac’s. An additional 50 workstations, also Windows XP, and 17 dual booting Mac’s are available in the Learning Centre when it’s available. All the computer equipment has filtered internet access and runs Microsoft Office 2007.
Nearly all classrooms have interactive whiteboards with sound and projectors to provide the best learning experience possible.
Every student is provided with a Gmail address accessible through the North Tyneside Learning Platform. These are used for staff and student communication and comprise the Google Docs facility for collaborative working.
The ICT Support Team
The ICT Support team provide support during the core school working times (8am – 4pm) with additional time, when requested, after school for special events. Larger projects and essential maintenance is carried out during school holidays.
We use an internal helpdesk system that is available for all staff to log and monitor their problems progress from start to finish.
