Welcome to Connexions
Tracey Mell is the Connexions Personal Adviser for Marden
What does a Personal Adviser do?
I can help with careers plans, looking for courses, apprenticeships, jobs, volunteering, money you may be entitled to, putting together CVs and application forms, and lots more.
Who do you see?
Pupils from year 9 up. As year 11s have big decisions to make, I will invite all this year group to a careers interview, and have follow-up meetings if needed.
What is a careers interview?
I’ll start off asking what you want to get out of the session, and if you have any ideas for your future. If you have some ideas, we’ll talk about them, and how you can make them a reality. But if you are not sure, then we can look at ways of getting the information you need to make up your mind.
In the week after the interview you’ll get an action plan, which will give you ways taking your plans further, factsheets, useful websites, and other useful information.
Can I see you outside school?
Yes, we also see people in our Russell Street Connexions Centre in North Shields where you are welcome after school (Mon-Fri until 5:30) and during school holidays. This may be particularly useful if you want to be seen with your parent/carers. Whilst there will normally be someone available if you just pop in, if you want to make sure, or see a particular Personal Adviser, it’s best to phone first to book an appointment.
We also do other sessions around the area, details are on www.connexions-tw.co.uk
How can you contact me?
I tend to be in Marden Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, though you may see me about on other days. I normally work from Mr Allen’s office. If there is anything I can help you with, just ask. I’m happy to have a chat during breaks, or take your name to book you in if you need longer.
I’m available Wednesday lunchtimes for people to drop in with queries.
I will put my schedule up on the careers notice board (next to Mr Allen’s office) at the start of the week, so you can see when I’m in.
You can phone me on 0191 643 6965, or email on tracey.mell@northtyneside.gov.uk
